Understanding lead stages and logging a door or phone outcome

A RoofCRM lead has exactly six stages — New, Contacted, Inspection set, Quote sent, Won, Lost — and stage is the only pipeline field on a lead. You log what happened on a call or at the door by tapping one outcome chip, and that single tap writes the disposition and (for most outcomes) moves the stage at the same time. No separate "save stage" step, no second form.

The six stages

On the lead detail page, the Status card shows the stage row first. Tap any stage to set it directly:

That is the whole list. There is no custom stage vocabulary to configure, because the outcome chips below are how the day-to-day work actually gets recorded.

Logging an outcome: one chip, one click

Below the stage row, the Status card splits outcomes into two groups: On the phone and At the door. Tapping a chip logs the disposition immediately — the chip gets a ring so you can see what was last logged, and the card shows "Last outcome" with how long ago it happened.

Phone outcomes

Door outcomes

Door chips write two things at once: the disposition and the canvass status that powers the door-knocking tracker. There is a note box above them — anything you type there is saved with the canvass log.

The deliberate pattern: outcomes that prove real engagement advance the pipeline; outcomes that are just "tried, no contact" log the attempt without touching the stage. A lead you knocked three times with no answer is still New, honestly.

Callbacks and converting

The Status card also has a Schedule callback section — set a date and time and it attaches to the lead as its next action. And once a lead reaches Won and is not yet attached to a customer, a Convert to customer button appears on the same card, turning the lead into a full account for estimates, invoices, and jobs.

Questions

Can I log an outcome without changing the stage?

Yes — that is the default for the "no contact" outcomes (No answer, Wrong number, Knocked no answer). They record that you tried and leave the pipeline where it is.

Why not more stages?

Because stage is a pipeline summary, not a diary. The activity history and canvass log hold the detail; the six stages stay readable on a list view across a whole crew.
